first came up with 6 specific lines at a time when i felt a bit distressed (starting with "what you’re doing is no crime") – from there on, i decided to expand it a bit more into an "inspection" of my mind, mainly its overthinking and its ability to be overwhelmed. in the chorus (if i can call it that), the lines are linked by a word, this could be also a metaphor for how the brain can wander off (but i did not come up with this consciously, i just realized that it is symbolic :D)
