@ada i understand that, but communities still feel a bit tied to those instances since they're the one hosting them - like, if an instance goes down, now the whole community is gone
i guess lemmy/kbin are nice, but hosting a community on a single instance might not work best with federation like, i want to post about jet lag: the game - do i have to specifically post to this one instance that hosts a jet lag community?
i'd honestly really love to see a content tagging system for fedi, where instances could follow tags from other instances/relays, great for discussing interests especially now that reddit is killing all good ways of browsing it
rarbg was so simple and had a lot of self-uploaded stuff, this is quite sad i definitely got some niche stuff from there - like 100 days to indy recently
