i guess lemmy/kbin are nice, but hosting a community on a single instance might not work best with federation
like, i want to post about jet lag: the game - do i have to specifically post to this one instance that hosts a jet lag community?

@duc Lemmy/kbin instances are themed in the same way that Mastodon/Calckey instances are. It's just like any other federated content on ActivityPub. You can post and interact from other instances just fine.

If you're on one lemmy sub, you can post to a kbin community, and kbin users can see and reply to your post.

@ada i understand that, but communities still feel a bit tied to those instances since they're the one hosting them - like, if an instance goes down, now the whole community is gone
