@jeder the reason not to have comfortable seating is money
wanting to save money on comfortable seating typically happens when those making the decisions:
1. do not use the public transport
2. do not care about people tht use public transport
this typically happens when the elites (which are making the decisions, whether in government or in the companies creating the seats) have a different preferred transport method and a despise for those that do not typically use it
the netherlands is one of the great homes of capitalism, so 2 is clearly in effect
consequently, we can conclude that a decent amount of the dutch elite utilize public transport
