I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're refering to as ActivityPub, is in fact, Mastodon/ActivityPub, or as I've recently taken to calling it, Mastodon+. ActivityPub is not a webbed site unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning Mastodon+ system made useful by the Mastodon federation, timeline and vital gigabytes of RAM comprising a full federated Mastodon Network as defined by Gargron.
