Tbh, I don't even think talking about encryption of the backup files makes sense in the scenario.
If your computer is on, you decrypted the data to work with it, you go take a piss, and the FBI knocks down your door, then it's just over.
Mitigating circumstances like end to end encryption of data that matters is pretty much the only thing you can do.
