so uh, the Official™ Mastodon App® got a Material You redesign and holy shit…

to the Megalodon dev: please don’t bring the redesign to your fork PLEASEEEEE IT IS AWFRIBLE (they didn’t follow ANY MD3 guidelines and black on dark accent color looks terrible on the login page, you can try it for yourself if you want…)

to everyone else: JUST SWITCH TO MEGALODON ALREADY YA DINGUSES

(i’m sorry for the rant but please just use the pink fork of Mastodon if you don’t do so already)

so uh, about that thing again:
the original Mastodon for Android app still did a bad job in terms of MD3 design
but hey, at least the pink fork isn’t going to step into the same problem (from what I’ve seen so far)! :3

the soon-to-be-arriving MD3 future of Megalodon might actually look brighter than I thought it would c:

black on dark green accent color text! :3
the bottom bar does use somewhat MD3-compliant icons but I just can't get used to those, they just look out of place (same with the post interaction button icons)
the settings page now has seperate pages instead of one big page where you can change everything (which is a good thing, I guess? especially considering how many settings Megalodon has)
The profile page looks completely out of place with the missing transparency in the status and header bars...

@jeder also, holy shit I just noticed how terrible the bottom bar (and the selected button) looks on the profile page if it’s your own 🥴

Good example why you can't just copy&paste designs but should also take a hard look at the result.
