They are mostly Americans stuck between three reality universes, which are:
1. „Here in America, the land of Freedom(TM), we don't even have passenger railways.”
2. „Here in Western Europe we have built high-speed infrastructure, but also removed the entire network of middle-speed, cheap overnight connections”
3. „Here in Eastern Europe we've created the social habit of long-distance night train travelling during the Soviet times, but capitalism fucked everything”
I'd love to see EuroNight brand reappearing as cheap way of travelling in Europe. However, what can I say when comparing:
- flying between Katowice and Eindhoven (hatred, but only 300 PLN return ticket) - Katowice - Wien Hbf - NJ to Amsterdam (I'd love and prefer to travel this way, but >500 PLN one way...)
Essentially, we must repair EuroCity and EN network, then ban planes inside EU. Normalize overnight trains from Warsaw to Lisbon.
@Nepose tbf most of the ones I get are Bri*ish and they sound as ridiculous the NJ to Amsterdam can be cheap sometimes, I got very lucky and got a 29.90€ sitting coach ticket from Vienna to Amsterdam, but yeah, if you want to get a couchette or sleeping car, you need that ridiculously expensive ticket and like, man
@jeder that 500 PLN was calculated for entire journey from Katowice without buying in advance, in exactly the same mindset as you buy last-minute airplane tickets.
Therefore, there is also the issue of: either buy overpriced IRT ticket (no tariff agreement between PKP IC and ČD on crossing border in Bohumin<Gr> and Zebrzydowice<Gr>...) or combine Vcasná jízdenka Evropa promotions on multiple tickets. Or even buy Polish Katowice - Chałupki and Czech Bohumín - whenever you want and 6-minute cross-border travelling without ticket.
That price was also calculated in ČD system, in most cases Czechs offer the best prices. Their system is connected to ÖBB's API, so it's possible to calculate price of Bohumín - Amsterdam or where Nightjet brand goes else.
