announcing Minifedi, a tool for testing fedi software Oh hey here's a thing I've been working on that I never formally announced: Minifedi, a tool for running a bunch of fedi instances (which federate to each other) on your machine with minimal fuss

It:
Uses Nix, but (hopefully) doesn't require you to be a Nix Person (tm)
Should work on any macOS or Linux (or probably WSL) system, with zero dependencies beyond Nix and zero changes to your system configuration
Supports Mastodon (and forks), Akkoma, and GoToSocial. No support for custom Akkoma/GTS versions yet - custom GTS versions should be trivial to add, Akkoma might be mildly annoying. Was gonna add Misskey/Firefish but, ah, gonna hold off on that one for a bit (also it's technically a pain because JavaScript packaging is a nightmare, especially when Nix is involved)

All that being said, it's very new and while I'm Pretty Sure In Theory it'll run on your machine, reality is a little piece of shit sometimes. If it seems like it'd be useful, I'd highly highly appreciate you giving a shot and letting me know how it goes!
