I will never buy a new OnePlus device again. It's incredible how bad they fucked up everything with the OxygenOS 12 update. "The problems get solved in OxygenOS 13!" well too bad my device doesn't get the update and is just left with a shitty experience.
I have installed a custom ROM but I'm mostly frustrated for my girlfriend whose experience also got much shittier with the update
@jeder You're right. Even though ColorOS is worse than OxygenOS, I (and definitely my gf) could live with the uglier UI. But destroying a working phone with an update? Unbelievable.
@lumisnow after 3 years of trying to deal with it, i just gave up and got nothing phone which has a lightly modified stock android, granted there are no good custom roms, but eh, i can live without that for now
@jeder This is what reviews don't (and can't) tell you. The original OnePlus Nord was recommended by so many people as it had great specs and software, but nobody could know that it would turn into this.
My next phone will probably be a Pixel. If only they were sold globally...
@lumisnow yeah i was looking for a Pixel for a long time, but since they aren't sold officially in Poland, it's very annoying and yeah I ultimately settled on Nothing Phone, which on one hand is probably better software-wise by default, but it also doesn't have access to the vast custom rom community of Pixel
@jeder Yeah, I get you. I have no idea why Google sells the Pixels in so few countries. The newest models are sold now in some Nordic countries, but not here in Finland. Some companies import them but then it's like 20% more expensive
@lumisnow yeah, sometimes they show up on amazon for msrp price but like, you are not sure if you'll get them since most of the time they are not sent by amazon, and here if someone actually imports one, the markup can be as high as 40% which is not great at all
@jeder Yeah, also I'm a bit scared of buying a device that's not officially sold in my country as it can cause problems with warranty if the device is faulty
