Please stop defederating from general purpose news services, just because they sometimes do a transphobia.
I'm trans, and I'm telling you its worse for me to cut off my news sources than to read those news sources misgender people or whatever.
Seriously, come the fuck on, we just talked about this. Stop making the fediverse into some arcane and impenetrable little clique powered by unwritten rules and endless purity tests.
@jenniferplusplus personally disagree, we shouldn't exempt them from the rules because they're a large institution, we should scrutinise their reputation according to our rules because they are a large institution.
This is how they get away with transphobia and queerphobia in the first place, and I'm kinda done with that.
@ShadowJonathan it absolutely is not how they get away with anything. All blocking them would do is cut people off from the discussion about their behavior and every other thing they report on.
And you're right, they should be subject to the rules. If they fail to moderate their instance and their members become a source of harassment, absolutely defend. Doing it preemptively is the special treatment.
