Dear — Why can’t I find any trace of the reply I wrote last night that had a ton of interaction with several people??

Even if the dudebro I initially replied to blocked me (which is completely fine) or deleted his post (which I doubt he would do, but is possible) or defederated from the instance I’m on (he can do that since he runs his own), that shouldn’t affect things I posted prior to that on an instance that doesn’t belong to him… right???

@leigh *key does this thing where if someone deletes their post, it will also cascade delete everything that was a reply to it, so you won't be able to find it

@jeder Wow. That’s AWFUL. And very counter-intuitive. And really upsetting, truthfully, because that deleted MY writing which I actually invested a fair bit of effort into and wanted to refer back to.
