oh apparently the reason why i get relatively poor wifi with my computer is just that my network adapter (QCA9565-based) doesn't really get much speed
72 Mbps max at 20 MHz which is about the max i ever get indeed
although i'm not sure if that's a protocol limitation or just because it's over a decade old
