@duc oh it's horrid. The title is "Best news ever!" but for me as a Gentoo user (who wants to use the package manager for this) it just means I literally cannot use discord today on pc.
@vv yeah, forced updates are bad enough on android, but on PC??? another level... alternatively, [insert condescending propaganda about a different distro]
@duc Major props to the Gentoo package maintainers for discord-bin who have tirelessly avoided keeping me in this state for longer than maybe a day, though.
@vv@duc as a fellow gentoo user, for discord just copy the ebuild to your local repo and rename it to the version of the new release, then run ebuild digest on it, don't have to wait. Most ebuilds if the build process itself hasn't changed are set up to auto-update the download link and install folders based off of the version number in the filename.
