@lyza @novenary @jeder Idk I've daily driven Graphene for the last 6 months and have had zero issues. I really don't see the antagonism against degoogling. And especially I don't get this blind trust in Apple. Anything sensitive I store in my proton drive. Since I don't trust Apple nor Google's "trust me bro". Privacy policy. If it is not open source it is not private.

I've been an avid Apple user. Yet I don't get this antagonism towards FOSS Android.

@mia @lyza @jeder because there's a bunch of apps that just don't work, or don't work properly, if your phone is degoogled (like, worse than rooting or using a googled custom rom)

and those apps generally don't have a reasonable foss alternative, especially shit like banking apps, also google maps (osmand is very hit or miss from what I hear), gboard (I need gesture typing and floris is still not usable)

graphene at least offers the option to use play services in a sandbox, which is much better than microg, but then you're forced to buy a pixel, and not everyone likes them

@novenary @mia @lyza i'd also like to mention that graphene is not viable for anyone that doesn't live in western europe or north america because of their pixel-only policy, so even if you try to evangelise anyone on graphene, you'll just come off as annoying

@lyza @mia @jeder I mean as far as root is concerned... I don't care, but I can't live without lineage, and you need to buy one of the very few devices where it's actually properly supported and for a long time
which pretty much means pixels and nothing else (fine by me)
degoogling is a different story though, still not quite ready to make that leap

that and they’re generally the worse phones when i look at other available options lol

i just really don’t want to bother with my phone or ungoogling or whatever. the way i use things now is perfect (Google account for backup and YouTube, with everything else being external or selfhosted) and i wouldn’t have it any other way
