covid, work, tangent to the upcoming 37C3
Interesting, the company's CEO advised us that covid cases are surging, that "both our customers and us have a bunch of sick leaves due to cases [of covid]" and that "Maybe it's time to avoid big events again and get back to wearing masks and getting vaccinated." Yes, that's right. A capitalist has made the connection between "covid exists" and "a lot of sick leaves".Maybe some Business Men can see what's going to hurt Business very soon if no one takes these well-known effective measures. Almost like... ignoring that covid is still a thing is not just really fucking bad in the healthcare sector (where it's done anyway) and still is a mass-disabling issue that we can't just ignore away.
As an aside, I think 37C3 counts as a rather big event. Yet, it is taking no measures at all, and now that some of the organizers got butthurt because they got called insults due to not caring about covid, I don't think any measures will be taken regardless of covid numbers either. At an event like that, masks shouldn't be a "you can wear them if you want" thing, rather a "you must wear them, or no event for you" thing. Something is going very wrong if a capitalist is better at even suggesting measures than the Chaos Computer Club, who is hosting a big event. Simply enforcing masks being worn would be a great idea. Hell, even just handing out masks to wear. But I guess it won't happen.
