I remember taking the MBSR class, and one of the exercises was "lie still for 15 minutes and experience your emotions".
It was like looking into a black hole, just nothing. Not that I don't experience emotions, but trying to consciously examine them? Utter void.
Same thing with "just let your breathing happen and pay attention to it". If I pay attention to my breathing it stops completely unless I consciously drive it to happen.
I was the only person in the class who experienced either of these things.
