@novenary@jeder tbh the cool part is that you have the choice, and you can use whatever you want!
personally, i like the silly webpage i made way back in middle school in god forsaken php, and.. i don’t feel a reason to change it? no frameworks, nothing to be “deprecated” :p
@domi@jeder oh yes absolutely, whatever works for you!
what pushed me to start a wiki was that - I didn't want to deal with an ssg because that's a project of its own (knowing myself I wouldn't settle for a premade theme, so I'd have to write my templates from scratch) - the constraints of the blog format don't really work for me (a wiki page is a living document, you don't have to "finish" it to publish it, you can just write bits whenever)
@novenary@jeder ad 2) i kind of enjoy having a publish-and-revise flow, where I publish a version that i’m happy with, but if I need to make corrections, I either make them as is (if they’re simple things like wording or a rare typo), or I add a section to the end of the doc to specify that it was edited. but hey, to each their own :3
@domi@novenary@jeder i kind of like how dead simple gemini pages are, and i'm now itching to create some kind of gemlog server solution that would be deliberately dead simple and oriented towards text/gemini, hosting things both over gemini and http. my view is that it would have so few moving parts (gemtext is like overly simplified markdown) that there would not be that much to style on the html side, and interface-wise for uploading stuff it would pretty much be like bearblog.
@domi@novenary@jeder i kind of have absolutely zero idea as to what i can even do with gemini, but that is such an obvious use case that i'm sure that i am not the only person that actually did that. but i want to tackle it nonetheless bc i have some spare time ig
@novenary@domi@jeder i want my solution to be both, so at least more people can see my things, but have it specifically target gemtext as opposed to markdown or smth. basically constrain things to the limitations of gemini, optimize the web experience around that, and stop worrying
@vibe@domi@jeder yeah that's fair enough I'm using mycorrhiza, the markup is derived from gemtext (almost a superset, but still much simpler than markdown)
