@jeder Every post office I've ever been to in Denmark has closed. The national post service still exists, but they lost so hard they closed most their physical locations and now you just send and receive packages at your local kiosk/gambling establishment.
@jeder I mostly order directly to the package shop because we had like a decade of "we failed to deliver to your address" no matter if you stood outside your place all day waiting and then you had to wait a day for the package to be delivered at a shop.
But the national service, GLS, etc, all have deals with the 3rd party package shops and redirect them to one of them. Also the national service has some newer pickup points which just rely on an app.
I think the real kicker is that many Danish companies send letters from Sweden because it's cheaper and faster.
@jeder "Post Danmark" merged with Sweden's national service "Posten AB" into "Postnord" in 2009 so it's technically the same service, but Sweden actuall does lettersβ’οΈ so their service is much better than ours, even when sending letters from Sweden to Denmark rather than using local Danish delivery.
@jeder Very. And I grew up with actual post offices so I totally know what you'd expect, but it just didn't "work out". By now Postnord does do competitive package delivery, but they're operating fully inside a privatized framework. I may or may not get a package delivered by them, but I don't actually have to interact with them at all.
