plpol+/~, civil unions bill
So the first details of the civil unions bill got shared yesterday and its...ok?It will pretty much grant the same priviledges as a marriage (including a ceremony), with the only big caveat being that it will not allow adoption on the same rules as them
Buuuuuuuut, it will allow for people entering a union with a person who already is a biological or legal parent/guardian to be marked as their child's parent as well, and since in Poland singles can technically adopt children I could see queer families using this as a workaround
Minister Kotula squeezed everything out of the conservative part of the coalition she could it seems, so hopefully the bill will pass parliament without any issues
That being said, another negative is that this will be likely all we can expect for now and that actual same sex marriages will be a topic for the next Sejm in a few years
I have fingers crossed easier transition procedure will be on the table soon though
