i want to make a map of what train lines ive been on. ideally i want to export my data from traewelling and work with that where it's accurate. any tips regarding tooling?
@mae you could also do a very long process of clicking everything out in brouter and import that into umap (long because it doesn't stick to proper tracks, because the support for rails is half done)
@mae@jeder find a fitting relation (not always possible) with the finder tool (sidebar), download the relation (I use overpass and
[out:json];
rel(59065);
out geom;
Export it as gpx/geojson Open in JOSM or whatever GIS tool you like, and clean the relation up (shorten it & remove platforms (short pieces)), then put them all in a folder/folder structure (I use a two-folder deep structure with type of railway (heavy/light rail, tram, …) and the network (ÖBB/ES/…), then use some script to compile all of them (I use a R GIS package - definitely worth improving) into one geojson (out.geojson), and then use @Gaelan ’s github.com/Gaelan/trainlines to put it online: maebruck.eu/trackmap
@maeow@mae@jeder basically my approach, other tips: I forget the exact overpass syntax, but you can use bounding-box filters to roughly cut a route down before editing it in another tool (maybe less necessary if you have a geojson/gpx editor less shit than the one I used) signal.eu.org/osm has a geojson export, often the quickest way to get a specific route through complicated stations etc
