- keys are organized in a tree structure
- key = value
- ini-like sections in square brackets
- dots in keys/section names are like directory separators
- keys in sections are hierachically in that subtree
- values "know" what type they are:
- strings in single or double quotes
- numbers as numbers (decimal using ".")
- "inline tables" with curly braces
- arrays with square brackets, separated with comma
