It's lesser of two evils
Even if difference is small
I still prefer duopol where one option is dependent on other, but still has certain freedom, rather than 1 single monopoly that can do whatever they want

good luck trying to get people to install your firefox fork when it's like 50 versions behind current firefox because you use ESR and profiles using current firefox are fucking wonky when used with old versions
