I guess User-Agents don't have a strict standard, but does someone know why Mastodon puts the http.rb User-Agent in front of the platform details?

If a somewhat "general" format is: <product> (<platform>)

then why is Mastodon's UA the following:

http.rb/5.1.1 (Mastodon/4.2.10; +
https://desu.social/)

because this way, UA parsers will identify Mastodon as "http.rb" (like it happens in Sentry) instead of Mastodon.

@pixel i mean misskey-likes use node as user-agent and it happened to have Bad effects in past few days (someone had a redirect for node UA to a huge zip file, presumably as a measure to fuck with scrapers)

@jeder well, Misskey should definitely adjust its UA for outward requests then.
