📉 ph, mh re: the kescher july covid infection check-in threadmhm yes i don't like how I'm feeling tbh. i am increasingly getting more exhausted despite doing little, and thinking straight's really hard. throat's not good either.
this is the part where i remember i own a pulse oxymeter. knew it would come in handy:
96 to 97% SpO2, elevated heartrate compared to normal, somehow while sitting my heart rate goes above 100, when standing it is much, much lower than that.
i was kind of expecting it to become worse than my first infection, but fuck
📉 ph, mh re: the kescher july covid infection check-in threadit's not getting better. it's a very numbing headache now, and my heart rate is fluctuating a lot. the SpO2 also jumps around a lot...
re: 📉 ph, mh re: the kescher july covid infection check-in thread...and the latter shouldn't be able to do that, right? isn't it a value that slowly changes?
📈 ph, 📉 mh re: the kescher july covid infection check-in threadWell, physically I feel less bad than yesterday. Headache less bad. Diarrhea has been added to the symptoms, though.
"final stages of infection", the kescher july covid infection check-in threaddamn. this covid thing is really fucking insidious. who knew! /s
To preface all this: My first infection back in August 2022 wasn't as bad. I lost barely any quality of life permanently – back then, the only thing that stuck was ongoing muscle ache in my lower left leg and a 10 bpm increased resting heart rate, both of which went away in February/March 2023.
Fast-forward to now: I sleep, I wake up, and I feel so fucking good. Like, I feel as if everything's done and I'm fully healthy again.
I stand up and my vision just doesn't work for a second and then my coughing starts, but it's no longer from a scratchy throat. And in general I start feeling crappy immediately.
So my body only really is ok when sitting or laying down. Moving? Miserable.
I assume this infection got me some permanent lung damage. I have yet to find out what this means in a not-well ventilated area as my windows at home have been open the entire time.
COVID test this morning? The faintest red line possible. Still there but you have to have light hit the test in a specific way to still see the line. Or hold a flashlight behind it briefly (as the line only appears there when viral load exists, too. Tested this with lots of negative tests I used to have).
Also, woo, I'm statistically likely to shit virus parts for the next few months.
update 2 "final stages of infection", the kescher july covid infection check-in threadSpO2 is definitely jumping around again. That may also be what causes the "feeling awful when getting up" thing and the "I fell back asleep despite not feeling sleepy".
I suspect it's more of a "I passed out" than anything else
for legal reasons not medical advice, re: update 2 "final stages of infection", the kescher july covid infection check-in thread@kescher try this:
Lie down and do little for 10–15 minutes. Measure your pulse and oxygen (blood pressure too, if you can).
Stand up swiftly and measure again.
If the pulse goes up more than 30–40 beats, that hints at POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome), a common COVID after-effect. Not dangerous per se, but eat more salt and don't stand up swiftly.
If the blood pressure goes down rapidly when you get up, that's called postural hypotension; as I recall it's a neurological issue where the veins in the legs don't get the "tighten up" signal when you stand up so all your blood rushes to your feet.
Those are both very common "feeling awful when getting up" candidates after a COVID infection.
re: for legal reasons not medical advice, re: update 2 "final stages of infection", the kescher july covid infection check-in thread@kescher@amberage I can't remember ever having a heart rate below 60. it's usually way higher. maybe when I sleep it's that low, but I can't really check.
re: for legal reasons not medical advice, re: update 2 "final stages of infection", the kescher july covid infection check-in thread@elexia@amberage for me that's actually normal resting rate
re: for legal reasons not medical advice, re: update 2 "final stages of infection", the kescher july covid infection check-in thread@kescher@amberage waow
re: for legal reasons not medical advice, re: update 2 "final stages of infection", the kescher july covid infection check-in thread@elexia@amberage I am surprised that this second covid infection hasn't fucked with this because my first one did
re: for legal reasons not medical advice, re: update 2 "final stages of infection", the kescher july covid infection check-in thread@kescher@amberage@elexia yeah my resting rate is very much around 60 and i Have the funny when i swiftly stand up (i feel like am gonna pass out and need to lean onto something) God
