it also defaults to filtering to snaps only, which does have a few apps available but not the one i'm looking for (gnome extensions), to install that you have to use apt in the terminal
@jeder i agree that nobody should bother using ubuntu, but it's especially bad when people suggest a broken distro to newcomers because it means they'll assume linux itself just isn't worthwhile so they'll stay with windows
