to be fair there's only so much you can do if you need double deck trains for capacity reasons and your platforms are too high to have level boarding on the lower level, but too low to have level boarding on the vestibule level

solution: the entire EU should mandate 1.1m high platforms

oops, this reply turned into an infodump! @starshine that would be too tall for every single S-Bahn service here (which usually use 96cm high platforms, ignoring all the other far-more-than-regional S-Bahn services in Germany) and most German trains though neowyvern_googly_shocked

(and in Germany, you more often than not have level boarding with the 56cm and 76cm platforms here (while double-decker carriages are mostly happy with 56cm platforms only when they have a low-floor entrance/exit while other trains have mixed exits (like ODEG's Desiro HC and some single-level electric multiple units like the TALENT 2) supporting both common heights) - and we
are getting rid of 22cm "tall" platforms slowly but surely, with Magdeburg-Neustadt being one of the stations where I still see it on one of the two platforms floofWoozy)

oops, this reply turned into an infodump! @awoo @starshine 76cm is "level" but only as level as SOR BN12 can be, therefore we should aim for 1m instead of 76cm or 55
