the way this whole operation has been run from the start is an absolute clusterfuck

the context in which the sharkey project started, the incessant shilling, the FUD campaign against akkoma when they've made a gross show of incompetence themselves, overreacting fanning the flames on the hetzner discourse, and now this?
yeah no fuck that shit, I do not trust them in the least bit
and every time they lift a finger that distrust grows stronger

firefish is still alive btw, and iceshrimp is doing fantastic
just go use those

btw I'm pretty sure a big part of this is that their hosting costs are now way more than they can afford
because in response to the hetzner drama they bought dedicated servers and racked them in a DC
yes they own all of their infra now, but lol

@jeder German non-profit law is kind of complicated.

Might be better for them to do some EU jurisdiction shopping, frankly. I'm sure there's a couple EU countries where you can get a non-profit by having only two or three members, and by adopting a model charter that prohibits paying dividends and requires distributing left-over money to other charitable causes upon liquidation.
