tbh not many people talk about how gnome and plasma desktop are quite unusably heavy on old underpowered machines
I didn't have the good chance to test yet but like windows 10 ltsc may have a faster desktop

and I'd prefer either those over some lighter classical x desktop like xfce because my device in question is a convertible laptop with touchscreen ... with also an absurdly high rez that needs like 150% scaling lol.

ok this is weird. When I tried Fedora Workstation and KDE spin they both were like.. balls slow. For example booting Chimera live cd with gnome it's .... fine. Not great, fine, usable.
what is going on lol
