because of the heavy rains in wrocław area and the risk of flooding, our housing estate co-op management decided to turn off the lifts; this might be well-warranted precaution, but it's fucking inconvenient when one's flat is on the 8th floor.

…our housing estate is a bit notorious, because it was heavily flooded during the so-called millenium flood of the late 1990s; see the attached archival image from 1997 (the arrow points to the window of the room where i'm currently typing this.)

@mawhrin I have the privilege of living in a city centre of my city, which is also on a hill compared to the rest of the city, but the usual spots already are full of water and people are even more wary because of 1997 flood still
