they made calckey like around misskey 12.117, so like 2 years ago, it was second western fork after foundkey which based on 12.111 with fixes from 12.112 (because 12.112 added a tensorflow model for detecting nsfw images which took a lot of space and because misskey is fucking janky etc etc), calckey team stole a bunch of stuff from it and so drama around attribution happened (and a bunch of false transphobia claims were shot at foundkey devs because of course that had to happen)
they were uh, interesting to deal with, very growth minded and silicon valley brainrotted (more about that later), move fast and break things all that kinda cringe shit (which is why firefish during their tenure is so fucking buggy and you still get all funny stuff from that in js shrimp)
year later they rebranded calckey to firefish because they wanted to break off the misskey branding because misskey bad!!! syuilo transphobic!!! or whatever and during this they abandoned it and we see aftermath of it today
now, back to the SV brainrot: after abandoning firefish they got rid of all that shit, moved repo to naskya without contacting them etc; pivoted to web3/cryptocurrencies and is now "working" on a "web3 social media", calckey/firefish was proudly "fuck github!!" but now they moved back to github lol
