@tammeow so, i had a pleroma instance back then, and pleroma had this funky way of doing this where it could fetch every post it finds, and does a rabbit hole
so i enabled it
aaaand that's how it started to fetch mastodon.social and my rpi was not happy about that

@tammeow but yeah backfilling is useful for checking follow requests because it can fetch recent posts of that person, fetch replies to a post etc
