i'd like to take the time to remind everyone who's concerned about the internet archive that it's never too late to start your own archive. you can get things like 4tb sas drives off of ebay for $30 (yes, I've gotten them in bulk for that price), you can use filesystems such as ZFS to make a very resilient storage solution (seriously, where do you think I get my love of ZFS from? I buy 7+ year old ent hdds off of ebay for dirt cheap and ZFS does a lot to keep that functioning. I have yet to actually lose my zpool). some good starting stuff is using a distribution (of either freebsd with truenas core, or debian based with truenas scale www.truenas.com) of tools that let you facilitate it. I mean once you get further into it you may be like me and go "I want to do ZFS on a baremetal ubuntu install without the overhead of truenas, or the limitations of truenas". we all start somewhere. there exists software like archivebox.io that you can host in a truenas scale container (really it's k3s iirc but there's existing helm charts for you to pick from)
