In 2008, more x86-64 systems adopted UEFI. While many of these systems still allow booting only the BIOS-based OSes via the Compatibility Support Module (CSM) (thus not appearing to the user to be UEFI-based)

so it took quote some years to fully get rid of it

but yeah
i mentioned it like twice already but i really wonder if the reason why lga 775 boards were wonky with settings was that they were pretty much the testing grounds of uefi

@eloy (pretty much every time i set my p43 board to use AHCI i have seen it revert to IDE few days later for some reason)
