from what i can see, bitwarden's license includes a rather bluntly worded non-compete agreement

this makes vaultwarden's web ui illegal to be developed with the new sdk versions, and moreover it disallows using it as the reference for developing vaultwarden as a whole

im not going to say the buzzword, but i will say that's an awful rugpull for a company that prides itself on basing everything on "open-source"

@halva somebody got butthurt photomatt style when they figured out they are losing a shitton of revenue because everyone selfhosts vaultwarden instead for the same features as their premium shit

@jeder maybe if bitwarden didnt require an entire aws cluster to run more people would pay them lmao

currently, IN PRACTICE, you cannot self-host the official bitwarden server as an individual or small business. you either buy their SaaS solution, or you suck it up (or use vaultwarden like a sane person would)
