@jeder that is the big question: I have absolutely no fucking idea. I need allrounder switches for gaming, writing & general tasks which are silent. I have no idea if tactile or linear are better and what actuation force / travel distance is good - so uhh yeah

@MagicLike for gaming linears would be better, while tactiles are generally better for typing so yeah
i currently have gateron jupiter bananas which are tactile and activate very late but they also seem to be very prone to double clicks for some reason, generally you don't want to go under 40g/cN actuation force (they are usually labeled as speed switches anyway, and usually also activate quite early, like 1.1mm travel distance) if you don't have any reason to (stuff like fast-paced gaming etc), similar to switches above like 65ish cN

@jeder well I guess I will have to go for a switch tester box - like what you wrote would at least narrow down the options in the Cherry naming scheme: either reds/silent reds, blacks/silent blacks, browns or clears

@MagicLike don't limit yourself to cherries, they are usually more expensive and quite shit in what they do, especially their browns

@MagicLike i'd go with cherries maybe before the patent went out but ever since the patent is gone, alternatives are frankly better and more creative

@jeder hmm yeah I just used their scheme to define the categories of switches - do you have any manufacturer recommendations?
