why is an ICE-T operating a railjet service? what the fuck?? (@ RJ 748 ➜ Linz Hbf) traewelling.de/status/3666414
a 411 arriving at St Pölten
the displays show a very weird layout of the route, the train calls itself an ICE
the outside screens also show ICE 748

there is no regularly scheduled ICE-T service from salzburg
this is probably just because they’re out of RJ sets and this ICE-T isn’t used since most ICEs to Passau run from Linz while the faster Westbahn line is closed

@jeder that would only be realistic if they were to run this back to linz without any passengers
the rolling stock explanation sounds more plausible to me tbh, but both are possible ^^

implying that this service is run by an ICE on a daily basis now, so it’s no emergency rotation for sure
