heh, just figured out that "Khrushchev" is only six letters in cyrillic script (Хрущёв)

Щ is simply too powerful

and of course the german romanisation is even worse than the english one: Chruschtschow (13 letters)

@deneb i find it dumb that щ is romanized as "shch" and not something like "sch" or even "sc". and for english speakers, both ы and й are romanized as "y" despite them being two different phonemes

@korin @deneb the english romanisation of russian is really dumb in general, it's neither easy to read nor accurate

@halva @korin @deneb every time I see anyone using English transliteration of Cyrillic languages in polish, I want to kill them because it's borderline unreadable

@jeder @korin @deneb what's even the point 😭 polish latin maps really well onto every cyrillic slavic language, and cyrillic non-slavic languages shouldn't use english latin either (usually there are better alternatives)

@korin @deneb @halva like, for some reason any Russian name is transliterated using polish, but Ukrainian names are using English for some unknown reason
