@jeder i wish clients would just pick up on the language as you're typing like bsky does. i like having inline translation (ironically bsky doesnt do that) but like. nobody fucking sets it properly because nobody can remember to do that

and you get conversations that are impossible to follow with inline translations lol

because it also has translations
but
get this
it uses an actual translator service that you feed your api key into
and it uses autodetect endpoint
and it actually w o r k s

@jeder tbh I would appreciate it if I could filter out posts in languages I don't understand

like the translate option is there but it autodetects the language wrong 30% of the time and just doesn't do anything

and iceshrimp-js at least doesn't let you translate alt text
