people who do that "follow everyone to get people to follow back" engagement hack on bluesky really rub me the wrong way
like i had a legit artist follow me just now and i straight up thought it was a scam bot stealing somebody elses art until i did a whole ass rabbit hole deep dive, reverse image searching, going to original profiles, etc, just to find out that it IS the actual artist doing this because the username on their bluesky and patreon match (AND NOWHERE ELSE BTW)

pros of bluesky: the federation is practically invisible so it's easy to find people and engage!
cons of bluesky: the federation is practically invisible so it's easy to find people and engage
this was way worse in bluesky's invite days i think since there were way less people to follow so you'd be able to just follow the entire site in like a couple hours with a script
meanwhile on fedi i think the only time i've ever had it blatantly happen is like.... the low quality facts guy... who i have silenced on my server for doing that floofTired
