content warnings are overused. and when you do need to use them, they 👏 should 👏 not 👏 be 👏 acronyms.

let me clarify what i mean by overused, a lot of people use them to describe the content of the post... but that content that doesn't necessarily need a trigger warning. literally everything like "subpost," "food," "bad," "silly," "mario party," etc. are things that really don't need a content warning. because of this everyone clicks on the content warnings almost automatically often without even reading it, and then when there is a real content warning for something like adult content or mentions of heavy topics, you once again mindlessly click it and expose yourself to stuff you might not have wanted to see

if you don't agree with me just yet do this; scroll fedi without clicking a single content warning, and see how much you miss out on. is it because all of that content is adult or heavy topics and stuff like that? no, it's because content warnings are overused

don't get me wrong, content warnings are awsum, but they really should be used properly, some people even use them just to title their posts which is also wrong.

boosts appreciated ig to have my voice heard
