What is it with Deutsche Bahn and not selling tickets on cross-border trains to Poland?
Eine Reservierung ist für diese Verbindung leider nicht möglich. Aufgrund der Reservierungspflicht ist eine Buchung deshalb nicht möglich. Bitte wählen Sie eine andere Verbindung.

Apparently this can happen when DB sold out its contingent of seats that PKP allocated to it for a specific train... but this doesn't make sense here:
* Tickets aren't bookable even for trains for which they're at the cheapest level (meaning not enough tickets were sold to make dynamic pricing go up);
* Tickets aren't bookable even for trains on 16-24 December, and DB didn't sell these tickets until today because the timetable wasn't settled (it is settled now).

@jeder but the tickets are not bookable for the trains in the current timetable too (on November 27, for example)

@jeder but also apparently with the new expensive fares PKP set for crossborder trains (25€ between Berlin and Poznan, as opposed to 15€ before this summer, back when it was cheaper to travel with PKP (15€) and not DB (19-20€)), it seems that now it might make sense to break up the journey at Rzepin.
Because Berlin to Rzepin is 10€ with PKP, while Rzepin to Poznan in the same train can be just 35 PLN.
(E.g. EC 45 on December 15; split the ticket, and it's 43.86+35 PLN (18.3€); get a single ticket, and it's 19€ from DB (not bookable) and 132.46 PLN from PKP)

@jeder all this pales of course in comparison to route via Kostrzyn (Deutschland ticket from Berlin to Kostrzyn, 14 PLN on a single direct train. I wish it existed not only during the night...)
