mmmm valve antitrust case
the thing that i absolutely do not understand
yes, it's the biggest player on the market
no, it's not because of stifling competition
it's because it just has the best product on the market and keeps on making it more accessible
yes, its cut is not the best, but if we get for that 30% cut a way better product than multiple walled gardens of EA, Ubisoft and other shitty companies, then eh fuck it
epic games still hasn't figured out basic functionality mind you, and that's the closest "competition"

Nahhhhhh bad take valve definitely needs to be hit by a lawsuit.

Their share ratio sucks ass and other companies are forced to make walled gardens BECAUSE of valve, they can't survive otherwise. Tons of indie devs also suffer because they are forced to go on valve because they ARE a monopoly just to get a small audience and then pay tribute to valve.

Valve also un ironically let's bigotry run rampant on their platform.

Why are people still sticking up for billionaires???

According to Wolfire CEO David Rosen, he’d planned to offer Wolfire’s 2017 game Overgrowth for sale on an unnamed smaller storefront at a lower price. Upon learning that, an unnamed Valve representative allegedly told Rosen that selling Overgrowth anywhere else for a lower price would be grounds for Valve to pull Overgrowth off of Steam.
I mean if that's true it's definitely monopolistic behavior, but also seems weird, considering sites like greenmangaming exist

@Mae considering there are sites like gg.deals that list prices for like all official keystores and steam and g2a and all that card stealer kind of shit where all the other stores have constant discounts, Yeah idk dawg

@jeder the only thing I can think of is that those other stores usually market it as a discount, instead of a lower price and I can't find any examples of a game(other than ironically overgrowth) having a lower base price outside of steam
