also it's funny how the location things where my phone thought it was in Hamburg, Lyon, Karlsruhe and Ledbury at once wasn't the thing that everyone else guessed spread around on fedi

it just was the result of Google & Apple trying to approximate location based on already-known location data using WiFi and Bluetooth scanning instead of proper standalone GPS lol

on that note, fuck both Google and Apple for hiding the option of "just let me use proper GPS, bloody hell" behind abstractions of "hey lemme disable WiFi and Bluetooth scanning and disable location accuracy" floofWoozy

@awoo counterpoint: wouldn't "use proper GPS" be an abstraction over "don't use WiFi / Bluetooth data to figure out location"? like sure, ideally it would be a toggle kinda like this one ( or a list of checkboxes, which this dropdown really should have been ), but still

@yassie_j @ptrc @awoo but compared to NR it has stuck on, at least in poland 4G is not known as 4G but as LTE

@jeder @yassie_j @awoo oh, this is a really fun thing, because in AOSP there's a list of MCC-MNC pairs ( which basically correspond to mobile operators ) with an optional property for each to replace the "4G" icon with "LTE" :p
