@null the HDMI debacle is worse than that because the trade secret parts of the drivers are proprietary and actually are inside the firmware blob that gets loaded on boot

the HDMI Forum didn't like that the driver is open source at all, conceptually, and they have barred AMD from enabling HDMI 2.0 support even though it bears no risks

and if you're wondering how come Intel has that and not AMD, it's because Intel straight up doesn't even support HDMI on their GPUs. they only support DP and put an integrated adapter before the HDMI port

@halva @null starting with dp to hdmi would be a great start because then I wouldn't have to use fucking edid hacks in kernel to use rgb on my display if I wanted to use hdmi with it (I now just use dp)
