windows: it will be 👍
linux: hey uh so you use this weird file from the 70s by setting... some mount point (because you see in Unix Everything is a File™ except when It's Not) somewhere (because the location isn't actually standardized anywhere), type in some arcane mount options because otherwise shit won't work like any sane person would expect it to because of 70s security expectations and then you'll probably have what you want (or your fucking kernel will crash idk LMAO)

@halva I mean you can also just skip fstab entirely and use systemd (which is what fstab is nowadays anyway)
more verbose yes but at least makes more sense, while still less than good

@halva @jeder No, that's something else. You can configure mounts as systemd units. www.freedesktop.org/software/systemd/man/latest/systemd.mount.html
