We show that LaTeX users were slower than Word users, wrote less text in the same amount of time, and produced more typesetting, orthographical, grammatical, and formatting errors. On most measures, expert LaTeX users performed even worse than novice Word users.
i'm never fuckin using latex again if i dont have to total latex death
@Mae@jeder@vivi better ux, better performance, better templates, better defaults, support for modern typography features, working support for vertical text in CJK (it’s quite broken in libreoffice), MUCH better stability (i’ve had libreoffice crash because i focused another window on a different screen, and Draw is basically unusable), better grammar checking out of the box, better document review tools, the list goes on and on
@Mae@jeder@vivi also interop with docx is still quite poor. there’s a chinese office suite called WPS office that has a free linux version and it does that a lot better
??? am i crazy i dont even like the bimbows software suite but i feel like the one time i tried libre office i was like “man this shit is so ass” as soon as i opened the software and saw its buttugly ui and the instant warning message it threw into my face. or am i mixing it up with some different word processor? i feel the better ux claim for ms office should b self explanatory
