looking up the weather online? opening your window?? how pedestrian. I intercept NOAA weather satellite transmissions and decode it to have a photo of the world as it is right now

(ignore the upper half i forgot to reduce noise)

(the map overlay may also be misaligned because i recorded the signal from a web sdr from the netherlands and messed up the sample rate so i had to edit stuff in audacity and lost the exact timestamp)

the raw file looks like this. way less impressive (sorry to break the illusion but the color is post-processing)
the same picture as before, but it's in black and white, and mostly only the cloud coverage is visible

an airplane kept transmitting on the same frequency so you have those noise bands all over

@kaia @fen there is this webSDR from Netherlands that is accessible to everyone websdr.ewi.utwente.nl and I am guessing it's from there
there's a lot of SDRs like this

@jeder @kaia exactly, yeah. i used this one: websdr.camras.nl, tuned into the frequency, recorded the audio using the button on the web interface, and fed it into SatDump
