@jeder tbf, given the clusterturd that bluetooth (as a protocol) is, i'm genuinely surprised it took this long for someone to make wifi headphones.

like, srsly, one of the projects i was thinking for a long time, was sticking an esp32 on some pair of wired headphones with an airplay or lennartaudio implementation on it.

@ar the thing is, there's a reason why wi-fi hasn't been tried and everyone is just doing proprietary 2.4 radio

@jeder the biggest one i can think of is windows and android not implementing any network audio streaming protocols. other than that, nah, things should work.

@ar it uses snapdragon XPAN which apparently requires snapdragon 8 gen 2, good luck with that
