@privateger@weeble@jeder yeah their client apps are basically the only thing keeping most plex users on board- but even some veteran users are considering switching with the experience getting worse and worse
jellyfin absolutely sweeps in terms of the core product. their client apps could be better, but even in my experience i've not had much issue with them
@ari@privateger@jeder@weeble the android tv app which is pretty much the only one I use mostly works, like it could definitely use some work but does well.

You're fucked if you wanna access jellyfin from like your xbox or whatever but if you're gonna shell out money you might as well just buy a streaming service on xbox
@ari@privateger@weeble yeah like my problems with their core product is that they still somehow bottle it, i wanted it to index a folder without anything else, and it mostly did what i wanted it to do, but like 20% of the folders inside have been converted into one file for no reason in particular
@jeder@privateger@weeble it was the least shit option, I just have a cheap aliexpress stb running coreelec and that's all I really need otherwise I would probably just load files off a network share in mpv because tbh I hate the complexity sandwich just to play files over lan
@weeble@jeder@privateger i don't use plex anymore, but plexamp was a big one for me. It's hands down the best music app I've used on android and it kinda blows any jellyfin app out of the water.
But on the other hand, it's locked behind plex pass and that sucks.
